As we continue to promote a safe and respectful environment within the KCACR, we would like to remind everyone of our safeguarding expectations regarding photography and video recording.
No video recording or photographing any ringing or of individual ringers, or audio recording that could capture voices or conversation, must take place without the prior agreement of every person who will appear or be identifiable in that material. This applies equally to adults and young people. Consent must be explicit, obtained in advance, and clearly understood by all involved.
In addition, videos, photos, or audio recordings (where individuals are identifiable), made at KCACR events or at member towers, must only be uploaded to social media platforms, websites, YouTube, or any other digital forum once all those featured have given their permission for that specific use. Even well-intentioned sharing can inadvertently compromise someone’s privacy or safety, so it is important that we follow this requirement consistently.
These guidelines are not intended to discourage the enjoyment or celebration of our ringing activities: indeed, we need to raise the profile of ringing. This, however, needs to be done in a way to ensure that we maintain a culture that respects the rights and dignity of every member. Thank you for your continued co-operation and for helping us uphold the highest standards of care within our association.
If you have any questions or are unsure whether consent is required in a particular situation, please do not hesitate to contact us.
With best wishes,
Emma Jarvis
