This is a quick reminder that the next Rochester District ringing practice is at St John the Baptist, Tunstall, ME9 8DU, on Saturday 21st March from 3:00 till 4:30 pm.
District practices are intended to give anyone who can handle a bell independently the chance to ring in a different tower, and/or to meet ringers from outside their regular band. They also provide an opportunity for more advanced ringers to tackle methods that require more bells, or more experienced ringers, than are available on a weekly basis. To give those who are up for this challenge a chance to remind themselves of what’s involved, the methods that will be the focus of each practice are publicised in advance. For example, on the 21st, we hope to be able to ring Grandsire Triples, Little Bob & Double Norwich Major, and Cambridge Surprise Major. But, if that sounds too daunting, rest assured there will be some simpler methods, plus plain hunting and call changes, for those who just want to ring a bell!
