Learning the skills to control a tower bell can take a great deal of time and dedication by both
learner and ringing teachers, as can the first steps into plain hunt and change ringing. Ringing
hubs can supplement the teaching time received in a local tower and give learners a wider
experience of bells and teaching methods. Ringing hubs welcome any aspiring bell-ringer and aim
to adapt the teaching towards the needs of the learner. As learners progress, the teaching moves
forward into exercises in bell-control to support rounds, call changes and plain hunt.
Learning hubs aim to give each learner plenty of time on a bell, with teachers giving well-explained
and demonstrated exercises to enable good bell-control and understanding in ringing. More hubs
can be added subject to demand and the availability of teachers.
In addition, any KCACR member who wishes to learn how to teach others to ring, is encouraged to
undertake an Association of Ringing Teachers (ART) training course. Courses are listed at ART
Events – Events List (bellringing.org) and courses in Kent can be arranged according to demand.
KCACR Treasurer will even refund the £30 course fee. Newly trained and existing teachers are
very much needed to help support learning within these hubs.
Attendance by Learners, Teachers and new Teachers wishing to gain experience
at these hubs is by request to the organiser. Please check first!
If no bookings are received, the hub(s) could be cancelled.
