A great day was had by all: first tower for the afternoon was Rochester cathedral. 13 youngsters met at the foot of the tower with a few supporters; for most of them this was the first time they had rung on 10 bells and also at a cathedral. Lots of rounds and call changes were rung here with various permutations of ringers. The most experienced rang really very well. A chance to ring the tenor was eagerly sought by those lads who thought they could … so three lasses also showed off their own capable efforts. St Margaret’s was the second tower in Rochester; a lovely venue with tea and biscuits very kindly provided by Alan (Thank you!). More R & CC, Plain Hunt x7, Plain Bob, Grandsire and Stedman Triples(with a little older help) rang out here. Our final tower was Cuxton where 2 more local youngsters joined us and enabled Stedman Doubles, Kent and Cambridge Minor to be added to the usual repertoire. Time to say goodbye…oh no…time for a quick supper and then 8 youngsters and 2 adults invaded the cathedral practice night to improve their 10 bell ringing before making their final goodnight drives around the county to Faversham, Aylesford, Maidstone, East Peckham, Otford and Cudham!
