Twenty-five ringers came and supported the January meeting held at Hythe on 20th January. Started at 10.30am and the ten bells were put to good use and touches included bob courses of Grandsire and Stedman Caters; three leads of Kent Treble Bob Royal and a half course of Cambridge Surprise Royal as well as copious amounts of Plain Hunt on nine and call changes on ten. Towers represented included Ashford, Hythe, Folkestone, Appledore, Frittenden, Lydd, Benenden, Saltwood, Brabourne, Smarden, and Bethersden. It was good to see Simon Lucas who was home for a short while from the Czech Republic visiting his family in Brabourne. We also welcomed Damien and Carla Smith from Ashford and their son Harry. This was Carla’s first ring for quite some time. It was a shame she was showered in coffee by the ringing master!! Also well done to Imogen Robinson from Folkestone, the youngest member present (not including Harry Smith), for coming along and joining in with the older folks! Thanks go to the ladies of the Hythe band who provided a delicious lunch in the church. This was followed by the first business meeting of the year. The meeting closed at 2pm.
