The second County Surprise Major practice took place at Leeds on Saturday 30th January. The practice was well attended, with 23 ringers taking part and coming from pretty much every District in the County.
Most of the Standard 8 Surprise Major were rung during the course of the morning, with the exception of Rutland and London – they were, however included in a great touch of 8-spliced that rounded off the morning. There were quite a few goes at Cambridge to cater for those that had specifically come to practice it, as well as a couple of goes at Bristol for the same reason. There was an attempt to ring half a course of Cambridge Royal at one point, and it just about came round despite the best efforts of the General Secretary to sabotage it!
All in all a very enjoyable morning’s ringing of benefit to a good few people, finished off with some of us heading to The George for a drink and some lunch. Thanks to Daniel for running the practice and for sorting out the tower. The next practice will be held on 30th April, venue to be confirmed.
