Hi all,
I hope you are well.
Following the well-attended Saturday training sessions via Zoom which have taken place so far for the Lewisham District, I’m offering two courses on listening skills, on Saturday 2nd and Saturday 9th May. Both will be at 10am, last 40 minutes and take place using Zoom. Details of the two training sessions are below.
Saturday 2nd May – listening skills for better striking
This session will focus on honing listening skills through listening to examples of ringing. Through discussion, we’ll identify gaps or clips in each piece, which I’ll be sharing with you via Zoom from Abel ringing simulator. Ideal for new ringers, but also suitable for anyone looking to judge striking competitions or to advise and improve the skills of their home band when ringing returns.
Saturday 9th May – listening skills for call changes and method ringing
This session builds on the listening session on 2nd May, and also on the training session on ‘how to learn a new method’ from a few weeks ago, when we discussed ringing methods by the position of the treble. We’ll use some practical examples to pick out the position of the treble and other bells, and think about how this can help our ringing of call changes or methods.
Everyone is welcome, of any level of experience, to join these two sessions.
If you are interested in joining either or both of these courses, please send me an email by 0900 on the Saturday morning of the course, and I’ll email you instructions on how to join the Zoom meeting.
If you missed one of our online training sessions over the last month, recordings of each of them can now be found online at: https://www.youtube.com/ channel/ UCuwovfc8KHEEEgsMTfLrljA/ featured. The topics so far have been: how to learn a method, an introduction to handbell ringing, calling touches, and organising an outing.
All the best,
Tom
