Subscriptions

A big thank you to everyone for paying your 2021 KCACR subscriptions by the deadline date last month.  This was very much appreciated by the District Treasurer and the Association Treasurer.

Handbook 2021

A reminder that if you would like a printed copy of the 2021 handbook, you need to request it by 14th March – requests will not be accepted after this date.  To request your copy, go to https://kcacr.org.uk/association/kcacr-handbook/2021-handbook-request/

Note: every tower will get 1 tower copy automatically, so there is no need to request this. Every member of the KCACR is entitled to one free copy of the Handbook but you must place an order for it.  Extra copies will need to be paid for at £4.00 per copy.

Returning to Ringing

These are the stages of returning to ringing from the CCCBR website for your reference:

Stage 1 – 29 March
Rule of six outdoors will benefit handbell ringing (up to 15 for young people)

Stage 2 – no earlier than 12 April
Young ringers groups possible following the ‘out of school settings’ guidance (expect social distancing restrictions)

Stage 3 – no earlier than 17 May
Rule of six indoors enables ringing subject to social distancing rules to be confirmed (could still be 2m)

Stage 4 – no earlier than 21 June
All legal restrictions removed
(it remains to be seen whether facemasks will still be suggested or mandated – that is not absolutely clear yet)

Please see the Survival & Recovery document for further information on the return to ringing. http://ringingteachers.org/application/files/6816/1471/1296/Survival_Recovery_Newsheet_Issue_4.pdf

David Gower

Sadly, David Gower recently passed away. David learned to ring at Saltwood in the early 1950s and for many years he was Steeplekeeper and Captain at Saltwood until he joined the band at Cheriton in the late 1990s for a few years. He regularly attended practices in the Canterbury District during the 1990s.  A peal of Grandsire Triples was rung at St Martin, Cheriton (where he rang a peal in 1960) to mark his 80th birthday in 2017. He had been in reasonable health but suddenly became unwell in late January 2021.  He was in hospital for a short time and appeared to rally, but then suddenly deteriorated and passed away shortly after this.

120 Club

Last year many of you purchased tickets for the 120 Club but the draws were put on hold because of lockdown and ringing restrictions.  We will now be running these draws on a regular monthly basis until the end of 2021.  The first of these will be on Saturday 20th March at 10.30am.  They will take place online at the beginning of the monthly Ringing Room sessions.  The details for the session on 20th March are shown below.  If you would like to observe the online draw then you are very welcome to join us via the Zoom link.  The results of the draw will be published in the District update email and on the KCACR website. If you didn’t purchase tickets last year but would like to do so this year then contact Maureen by email for details.

Ringing Room

David Robinson, District Ringing Master, will be running a Ringing Room session on Saturday 20th March.  If you haven’t done this before but are interested in taking part please contact David by email . You will have to sign up for a Ringing Room account and use a Zoom account.

The Zoom link and Tower have been emailed but if you need them please contact David.

If you intend to attend the session it would be useful for David if you could let him know by email.
