October Half-term week is upon us and will be very busy for our Young Ringers around the Association. A number of quarter peals are planned! (and already rung for those who have had this week off; well done to Tess and Anna Hargrave).
There is a Ringers’ Evensong Service at St Martin of Tours Church Chelsfield on Sunday 20th October at 6:30pm (with ringing from 5:45pm). Neil Jones (Tower Captain at Rochester Cathedral) will be speaking on the history of the cathedral bells and the plans to refurbish and augment the bells to 12 in 2021.
On Monday 21st October, 9 of our Young Ringers, along with 2 leaders, will be participating in the Module 1 of the ART course at Milton Regis.
Neil Jones will be leading a workshop on Thursday 24th October where he will be giving insights into calling and conducting.
On Saturday 26th October our Kent MINI-Ringers will be meeting at East Farleigh in the morning (10 – 12). Please bring £1.
The Kent Young Ringers will be meeting in the afternoon at Hollingbourne (2 – 4pm). Please bring £1. There is time allocated (if wished) from 4.30 to allow District teams to practise for the KCACR Inter-District Striking Contest coming up on Saturday.
Saturday 2nd November: We are looking forward to teams competing in the KCACR Youth striking Contest at Sturry in the Canterbury District. Please allow plenty of time to get round Canterbury on a Saturday and arrive by 1.30 to park and be ready for the draw at 1:45pm. Trevor Arnold is bringing his Maypole Ring and we may have handbells to ring as well. Do come along to listen to and support the teams. Who will win the Trophy this year????
