Three Saturday ringing sessions have been held this year:
January 27th at Marden attended by 13 youngsters.
17th February at Aylesford attended by 8 youngsters.
24th March at Hollingbourne attended by 16 youngsters, including 2 “first-timers”.
Ringing has ranged from Rounds and Call Changes, through Plain Hunt, Plain Bob and Grandsire Doubles, Plain Bob Minor, Grandsire Triples (Plain courses and touches). Also Kent and Cambridge Minor, Stedman Triples and Cambridge Major have been achieved with a little adult help.
Great strides have been made by those who have come regularly, with youngsters calling Call Changes, “go & stop” to Plain Hunt etc, and being encouraged to ring out of their comfort zone, be it weight of bell or ringing ability.
Three more Tower Quarter Peals have been rung by the youngsters for “The Society of Kent Young Ringers”, so named in order that all performances can be easily found.
Sat 24th March: 1260 Plain Bob Minor at Frinsted: 1st in method for Matthew Heasman (treble) and Isabel Hopper(2)
Thurs 12thApril: 1260 Plain Bob Doubles at Newdigate, Surrey: 1st in method for Liam Corette (treble) & 1st on tenor for Isabel Hopper;
Sunday 15th April: 1260 Plain Bob Doubles at Maidstone All Saints: 100th quarter peal for Dan Jarvis. This quarter was arranged by the youngsters.
Dan was also invited to represent the Tonbridge District in the Service Touch of Cambridge Surprise Minor before the AGM service at Willesborough.
