An update on the project to install a new ring at Strood from Doug Snoswell:
‘The Tower of St. Nicholas, Strood has at last been cleared to have a ring of eight installed.
These will replace the three of six that were destroyed in the Fire of 1898. Bells were not installed after the fire because a rumour started that the tower was not strong enough to support bells. This has now been proven to be wrong after a visit by Adrian Dempster (Structural Engineer).’
