St. Stephen’s Church, Canterbury
Dear Tower Secretary,
I am writing to inform you of a KCACR Youth Practice, open to all ringers within the county under the age of 25, which is being held at St Stephen’s, Canterbury on Saturday 28th July.
The practice will be held between 11.00am and 12.30pm, and young ringers of all abilities are very welcome to attend. After ringing, if the weather is reasonable we are hoping to have lunch on the field adjacent to the church, after which we will organise some games (e.g. rounders/ultimate frisbee). If the weather is unkind we will organise alternative arrangements in the church hall.
It is hoped that this will be the first of what will eventually become regular events, linking up young ringers across Kent to enjoy ringing and each other’s company. These will be events for and run by young ringers, so I will be looking for feedback and any suggestions for future events from the young ringers who attend. Older people may of course provide transport to and from the event, and would perhaps like to socialise in each other’s company too! There is a large field next to St Stephen’s Church which is a pleasant place to socialize on a warm day, or alternatively a comfortable pub within a very short distance [is it open on a Saturday afternoon?]
Please inform any young ringers at your tower about the event and I hope that as many children, teenagers and young adults as possible will attend. Everyone will need to bring something to eat at lunchtime. If there are towers in your near locality with one or two young ringers, may I suggest that towers could collaborate on transport to Canterbury. I would be grateful if any ringers (or those acting on their behalf) who are interested in attending could inform me, so that I have an idea of how many people will be attending. Please ring me on 01227 264203 or email .
Thank you, and looking forward to seeing plenty of young people at St Stephen’s on the 28th!
Benjamin Legg
KCACR Canterbury District Ringing Master
