A bell was recently offered to the Vicar of St. Nicholas, Strood by a local businessman. Considering the recent theft of a bell from St. Peter’s in Rochester, the Vicar was concerned and intended to alert the Diocese. In addition to this, Doug Snoswell received a call from the same businessman offering a full ring of 8 bells – obviously something that is not likely to be available on the private market like that!
The police have now been involved and both the Canterbury and Rochester Diocese made aware.
Please be aware and advise your incumbents to refuse anyone trying to sell a bell or bells privately like this, and obviously let the authorities know.
