2023: Our first session for Kent MINI-Ringers will be 10:00 – 12 noon on Saturday 28th January with the older / more experienced ringers meeting in the afternoon 14:00 – 16:00. (Please contact me, the District Youth Coordinators or the District Secretaries for towers).

We’re also making plans for the Inter – District Striking Contest to be held on Saturday 18th February, with the Young Ringers’ Trophy at stake!

A total of 29 youngsters attended our sessions in October and November at Aylesford, East Farleigh, Frinsted and Marden. Ringing ranged from Rounds, Called Changes, Plain Hunt and Plain Bob Doubles (MINI-Ringers) up to Plain Bob Minor, Triples, Grandsire Doubles and Triples and Cambridge S Minor (with a little adult help).

We rounded off 2022 with a great session at Staplehurst in December with 5 MINI-Ringers ringing for the first time on 8 and 10 bells.. fabulous! We were VERY grateful to the older young ringers who came along to support and enable this session.

Hannah rang the treble to her first Quarter Peal at East Malling and James called his first quarter peal: Plain Bob Doubles at Benenden. Young ringers have rung in several quarter peals around the Association and we are aiming for them to ring Triples this year without adult help.

8 young learners at Seal Chart were able to ring for the school Carol Service (6 unaided!) and are now enabling ringing for some Sunday services once or twice a month. Their “Rounds” get better every time, with some starting to ring Call Changes and even Plain Hunt. There are exciting numbers of youngsters learning to ring and we enjoy hearing about their progress.   Look out for a quarter peal on handbells called by one of our current young ringers before toooo long.

Happy ringing 2023!
