Following on from information received during a recent County Committee meeting, I got in touch with Peter Joyce at Southfleet to find out what is happening there. Peter writes:
‘The situation with St Nicholas’ is that we have had quotes from bell founders for a new ring of 6. We’ve had a positive report from the architect and some support from the PCC. It’s the annual parish meeting tomorrow (25th April) so I’ll be able to judge what the congregation think after that. Then it’s fund raising, in the region of £80,000′.
So if all goes well, Kent and the Rochester District could have a new ring of bells in the not-too-distant future! Hopefully Peter will keep me informed of progress, so keep checking back for more on this story.
