Radio Kent reporter came to Seal St Lawrence ( Seal Chart) this afternoon. She interviewed 4 youngsters from year groups 5 and 6 (aged 10 and 11). They have been learning to ring after school on Friday afternoons since March and are aiming to ring rounds together next Friday afternoon along with their headteacher and one dad, both of whom have recently resurrected their ringing careers from many moons ago! Two others started to learn more recently and are going to join in ringing backstrokes on this occasion. The pupils have been working towards this as part of their celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. One of the more recent learners has recently come from the Ukraine to live with one of the yr 6 learners, and can enthusiastically ring handstrokes and backstrokes separately. It has been a real joy teaching these very enthusiastic learners. One will be taking her newly learnt skills down under as her family emigrates to Australia (also next Friday!)
So listen out to Radio Kent Breakfast Show next Friday… the youngsters spoke really well…..all unscripted and unprepared!🔔🔔
