From Margaret Funnell:

The two striking competitions took place on the 21st April 2012 at Bredgar. The start time was 3.00 p.m. The judges Frank and Catherine Lewis arrived in good time and were directed to the village hall car park which is in direct line with the church so they could sit in the comfort and warmth of their car. Although it was dry and sunny the wind was very cold.

There were 4 bands for each of the Call Change Competition and the 6 Bell Method Striking Competition. After the draw had taken place it was decided that the Call Change Competition should be held first. The four bands were from Meopham. Eastchurch, Bobbing and Rochester Cathedral.

After the ringing had taken place a delicious tea was provided by the Bredgar ringers.

Then came the time for the results to be given. Frank gave a resume of each band’s effort and then Catherine gave the results. The Call Change competition was won by Meopham and the Strking Competition by Bobbing who will represent the District at the County Competition to be held at Chalk on the 22nd September.

The Chairman thanked the judges for coming, especially as they only had 24 hours notice and the Vicar for the use of the bells and the Bredgar ringers for the tea.
