Ringing is temporarily suspended at The Victoria Tower (formerly St Mary’s church and Medway Heritage Centre) following a fire in the early hours of Monday, 15th August 2011. Ringers at Rainham marked the 125th birthday of The St Margaret’s Rainham Bellringing Society last month. It was founded on 7th January, 1886. The first ever district quarter peal month has been very successful.A total of 14 quarter peals were scored at 9 towers in the district during November 2010. Bobbing, Cobham, Hoo, Meopham and Rochester Cathedral each rang two quarters, and Eastchurch, Gravesend, High Halstow and Swanscombe rang one quarter each. In Read more…
The new bells of Stone-next-Dartford were dedicated by the new Bishop of Rochester on Sunday, 16th January 2011.
