Kent Young Ringers youth officer Jennifer Thomas said: “We came first in our category, beating 17 other teams, to receive the Ringing World editor’s trophy for excellence and came second overall. So we are highly delighted.”

She thanked parents for their support and team mates: Lucy Harvey (Treble), from Hadlow; Isabel Hopper (2), Bredgar; Stephanie Runting (3), from Sidcup; Amber Cusick (4), Westerham; Jamie Austin (5), Brasted; Ellen Jones (6), who rings at Rochester Cathedral; team captain Daniel Jarvis (7), from Hadlow church; tenor Laura Byrne, Penshurst; Sam Chard, from Sevenoaks; and Victoria Higgs, Marden.

This is the 9th Year of the contest and the fourth year Kent has entered.

Jenny said: “We had an amazing weekend and rang at various churches around Birkenhead and Liverpool, including Liverpool Cathedral on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.”
