A lovely sunny morning greeted us for the open 10-bell practice held at All Saints, Maidstone on Saturday 1st June.  Unfortunately, the turn-out was very poor indeed – only 9 ringers from the District attended (5 of whom are on the District Committee) and had it not been for the fact that some of the All Saints ringers had turned up to help out we wouldn’t have even been able to get the 10 bells going.

Ringing included call changes on 6, 8 and 10 bells, plain hunting on 9 and 10, touches of Grandsire and Stedman Triples, half a course of Yorkshire Surprise Major and plain course of Grandsire Caters.  As it was also the Flower Festival in the church, a coffee break was taken at 11am to give everyone the chance to catch their breath and enjoy the beautiful building from the inside.

For some of the ringers who attended, this was not only an opportunity for some 10-bell ringing but also a new tower, and it was good to see one of the young learners from Rainham taking the opportunity to get out and about.  Overall, despite the poor turnout, an enjoyable practice was had by all.

A short video is shown below of some call changes on the 10 bells.
