“Thank you for the youngsters, the fun, the ringing…..”
I am super proud of these 12 Young Ringers  who entered the National Youth Contest in Worcester on Saturday 11th September. Getting together for actual practices has been a feat in itself, but they have worked SO hard, in their own towers or meeting up with 2, 3 or 4 others. We were able, unusually, to take 2 teams of 6 this year. 15 teams entered the Call Change category. Our more inexperienced team(R), all making their debut appearance at the RWNYC, actually had only ONE practice with all 6 of them! but were placed joint 5th with a score of 7.5 (/10).  Rebecca Steele from Frittenden called the changes very competently and confidently and everyone rang SO well.
Our more experienced team(Y) were under pressure with 4 team members from the Trophy-winning team at the last RWNYC in 2019 at Liverpool and 2 youngsters ringing in the team for the first time, but they rose to the challenge superbly and WON this category with an excellent piece of ringing, scoring 9/10 and retaining the Ringing World Editor’s Trophy for Excellence 🏆🎖 .  Many congratulations to them all.  (We also send our congratulations to the ODG for winning the method category).
I am SO proud of them all and SO privileged to work with them and enjoy their camaraderie and moments of madness!
Jamie Austin, Laura Byrne and Amber Cusick can now go off to university with a spring in their step; we look forward to their ringing with us again at Christmas.
The smiles say it all!
