Sat 17th February at Chalk & Shorne: Inter-District Striking Contest
Full teams from Ashford (1 x 18+ yrs), Canterbury (5 x 18+), and Tonbridge (6 x 18- yrs) participated; the Rochester District “borrowed” 2 ringers and a team made up of 6 YR(18- yrs) who may be part of our team entering this year’s SEECON.
Judge Dylan Thomas came from London and awarded the results:
1st: Ashford; 2nd: Canterbury; 3rd: Rochester; 4th: SEECON and 5th: Tonbridge (with a very inexperienced team)
Vice-President Margaret Funnell came to present the Trophy to the Ashford District and certificates to all participants. She also very kindly looked after the judge at Chalk and helped enormously with refreshments. We got off to a late start as the A2 was closed to the west(!) and had to rearrange our plans somewhat to accommodate the church at Shorne needing to be locked earlier than expected.
We had a very convivial atmosphere in the church at Chalk and in the tower for ringing after the contest.
