I am sorry to announce that Tim Wraight of Rainham died this morning. He had been unwell for some time.
Tim was the Tower Captain at St. Margaret’s for almost 40 years. During this time, he saw the band at St. Margaret’s change but he was always keen to maintain the ringing at St. Margaret’s, particularly maintaining the ringing for Sunday Service. He was also very diligent over the maintenance of these delightful bells. Tim was a very good teacher of bell-handling and it is thanks to Tim’s teaching that not only myself, but also Doug Davis, our Membership Secretary and Webmaster, became competent bellringers.
Tim served in the Royal Navy and only became really active in the Association after he retired from active service. He was the Chairman of the KCACR between 1987 and 1990 and held the post of Honorary General Secretary from 1995 until 2000. Tim was also very proud to have been elected a member of the Ancient Society of College Youths in the early 1990s.
Tim was well known not only in Kent, but also further afield through his involvement in other ringing societies, including the Royal Naval Guild and the Faraday Guild. He was a dedicated ringer who will be missed by many of us.
Rest in peace, Tim.
